Honda Unveils Updated NC700X and NC750X for 2016

Honda's upgrades its NC line with both aesthetic and technical improvements.

Published on 10.28.2015

Honda unveils the 2016 NC700X (US) and NC750X (European and Japanese markets) this week in conjunction with the Tokyo Motor Show. The practical and reliable middleweight adventure tourer has been upgraded for the new model year with both aesthetic and technical improvements.

NC700X

The versatile 670cc parallel-twin NC700X gets exciting new styling changes for 2016 including more aggressive bodywork, a 70mm higher touring windscreen and a new lighter pentagon-shaped muffler with an improved exhaust note.

Other functional changes include a larger luggage compartment (.25 gallons larger), three different levels of ‘S’ mode (sport mode) for the DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) version and a utility rail to simplify fitting a tank bag. Also new are “L”-shaped air valves on the wheels that make air fill ups easier, a revised dash meter and a smoother-functioning “wave”-style ignition key.

Styling updates for the 2016 Honda NC700X include new bodywork, taller windscreen, a smaller muffler and LED rear taillight.

The 2016 Honda NC700X will be offered in a new Silver Metallic color and will be available on US dealer showroom floors this April 2016. MSRP pricing for both the Base and DCT versions remain unchanged at $7,499 and $8,009 respectively. The updated 2016 Honda NC700X will be on display alongside the CB500X, VFR1200X and CRF1000L Africa Twin at the November 20-22 International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, California.

NC750X

The 745cc parallel twin engine NC750X (European and Japanese markets only) gets the same updates as the NC700X but also receives a few additional improvements not available on the US model. Updates include enhanced styling from an LED headlight and an improved ride from a new Showa “dual-bending valve” front fork. The NC750X rear suspension also receives a preload adjuster for the new year.

It’s lame that the 750 isn’t coming to the US. And only one color? Seriously? I suppose it could be worse and be black-only. But still.

It’s an adventure bike, if your idea of an “adventure” is a smoothly graded dirt road!

Many bikes later, including 3 VStroms, my NC750x is the best all rounder owned.

“The NC750X receives a rear preload adjuster for the new year.” Oohhh, so that’s what changes a pedestrian commuter bike into an “adventure” bike!

Riding a Yamaha FZ-07 made this Honda feel like it was made in the 50’s. No comparison!
